Lesson Plan Theme: Jobs and Work

Description: Students play around with the truth to practice present verb forms and talking about routines. There is also practice of job name vocabulary.

Description: After some initial work on job names, we meet Harry, an odd character who goes to a party and asks lots of questions using the verb 'to be'. We look at the structure of these questions and then the lesson finishes with a dice game that should also be downloaded and can be found just below.

Description: The lesson opens with some there is/are/it's revision to describe places that are easy or hard to live in. The main reading deals with an astronaut who lives in a simulated Mars environment and introduces the negative form of the Present Simple. There is a look at the structure of the negative before some pronunciation work on two frequently used vowel phonemes: /aI/ and /eI/. The lesson ends with a fun game to give practice of negative forms.

After some work on hyphenated numbers, we read about Ben and his daily routine miles above the Earth's surface. Description: Students think about the different emergency services and what they each do and then read about a group of police officers involved in search and rescue work in a rural setting. Grammar focus: using could/be able to, etc. for ability in the past.

Description: A lesson about the modern phenomenon of executive/tourist treasure hunts. After students help solve an introductory treasure hunt clue, there's a short reading with true/false questions, a short discussion about treasure hunts - and then your students will create and participate in their very own hunt!

Description: Using the context of businesspeople meeting for the first time, this lesson plan looks at the use of the auxiliary verb "do/does" to make the interrogative form. Open speaking activity to finish with.
