Working Outdoors

I'm a landscape gardener, and I love working outside. Every day is different; I could be planting flowers, designing a garden layout, or trimming hedges. My favourite part is seeing a garden change so much. Last week, I worked on a school garden project, which was really rewarding. My brother, who works in a tiny office, often says he envies my open-air office. I sometimes miss being outdoors on rainy days when we can't work in the garden and we have to do paperwork inside.

As a wildlife photographer, I spend most of my time outdoors in nature. I've travelled to various national parks and captured photos of incredible animals and landscapes. Waiting is a really important part of my job – sometimes, I wait hours for the perfect shot. My sister, who's a city-based journalist, finds my job exciting but too unpredictable. The best part of my job was seeing the northern lights last winter – an unforgettable experience.

Working as a tour guide in a historic castle means I'm outside a lot. I love sharing the castle's stories with visitors and seeing their fascination. The castle grounds are beautiful, especially in spring. My friend, a teacher, thinks my job is fascinating. I enjoy the variety, but the weather can be challenging. Last summer, we had a huge group visit during a heatwave, and it was quite a day to remember! And of course, there's always a lot of wet days.
