This part of the esl-lounge site was launched in November of 2001 due to the high rate of requests we received here for information about teaching English abroad or Teaching English as a Foreign Language as it is usually known. The key to this part of the site is YOU, the teacher. The information gathered together here is made up, for the most part, of tips, advice and warnings sent in by teachers 'in the field' in those particular countries. All information has a date written next to it...something we consider crucial. You need to know if the relevant information is 'fresh' or not. The esl-lounge TEFL Guide is divided simply into continents (e.g. Asia). Each country is then given its own page. On each page, we put the information we have recieved from our contributors. In some cases, you will find that the teachers prefer to remain anonymous - for obvious reasons. On the main page of every continent in the TEFL Guide, you will find a form that makes it simple to send in information you think is relevant to this part of the site. Use this form! Send in what you know! In a short time, we will build up a dossier on each country that can be of help to thousands of teachers who enter this line of work every month. At the beginning, there may not seem to be a lot of information here - you can change that! You may consider it irrelevant that travel expenses in Bolivian British Council schools are paid at the end of the contract, not on arrival. Another teacher may need to know this. So send it what you know. Use this form to send us information. Please note that this form is NOT for people looking for teaching jobs abroad. Don't use this form to send us your CV/résumé.
