Grammar Exercise: Sally's Terrible Day

Elementary

Use the verbs in the box to complete each sentence of the story, but be careful about using the past!


At 9 a.m., Sally put her coat on, left the house and drove downtown for her job interview. The interview was at 11 a.m. but she wanted to do some shopping first. She entered a large department store and she found some nice dresses on sale. She forgot her worries.

  1. After an hour in the store, Sally at her watch.

  6. Sally the store detective that she didn't know the dress was in her bag.
  7. The manager of the store didn't believe Sally and he the police.
  8. When the police , Sally was very unhappy and worried about the interview.
  9. The police officer that Sally was very nervous and realized she was innocent.
  10. He her story and Sally was delighted.
  11. She out of the store and arrived for her interview at 10:55 a.m.
