Flashcards and RolecardsAt upper intermediate level, students are better able to cope with more open role plays which you will find in this section. Situations are less forced and more realistic. This is especially important if students are not being taught in an English speaking country and where they will not be exposed to real world English outside the class. WorksheetsFor lessons when students will concentrate on particular parts of the language. In Upper Intermediate, you will find worksheets on, amongst others, passive, be used to and reported speech. Conversation and Discussion PromptsThese conversation and discussion prompts allow for more open student to student or open class speaking. Reading and WritingThere are materials here for the practice of more specific reading skills such as gist, skimming and scanning that is necessary at these higher levels to prepare students for the different types of reading they will have to do in English.
VocabularyAt upper intermediate level, the vocabulary resources becomes even more specialised. There are vocabulary worksheets on, to name a couple, idioms and movements of the body. There is also a large group of worksheets that focuses on the important area of collocation. GamesAt all levels, games provide a welcome change of pace for both student and teacher and at upper intermediate level, there are some games to practice the main language points learnt such as phrasal verbs and vocabulary.
Error CorrectionMaterials to hone students' abilities at self-correction which can help to increase their independence as learners. Such materials at this level deal with upper intermediate grammar areas. MiscellaneousFor Upper Intermediate, there are some interesting things here including an 'impossible sentence' challenge and a look at contradictory proverbs.
